The exhibition showcases the artist’s work from the past three decades, as an iconic performer, singer-songwriter, recording artist and political activist.

We were lucky enough to be invited along to the private view, where she gave an impromptu live performance in the main hall of the gallery—which was pretty special.

The exhibition is open now and runs until 30th June.

His business card was the first tangible piece of print to feature the new identity. The guys at Glasgow Press kindly invited us down for a sneak peak at the cards on press, and, as always, Govan's very own Aladdin's Cave of typographic treasures, proved too tempting an opportunity for us not to take some pictures!

The identity's greyscale colour palette takes reference from the Ansel Adams Zone System. We chose black on 700gsm Colorplan Smoke to provide a nice contrast. With Larry's help, we think they've turned out quite nicely!

As well as developing Peter's identity and accompanying printed collateral, we are currently working on a bespoke portfolio website to replace this one, where you can check out his work in the meantime.

Thanks again to Dan, Larry and Lorna for having us, keep up the good work guys!

Not a cap or bunnet or bobble hat. A proper, brimmed Fedora. The first time you wear such a hat you can feel quite conspicuous but now it feels, to me, like second nature. It’s become part of my self-image. I think of myself as a hatted man.The idea of shooting hats though, came about almost by accident. I photographed my Fedora on a whim to use as a visual signature on correspondence. Even without my scrawl at the bottom, the men from O Street—who have also been known to wear a hat or two in their time—would know it was from me.

Most hats are designed for wearing outside and the exterior has to be durable enough to survive wind, rain, or if you’re a soldier, even more rough-and-tumble conditions. It gets battered and bumped, and is always visible to the outside world. But the interior is a far more intimate space. It’s soft folds of silk, cushioning and protective. Working, walking, whatever you’re doing… you’ll leave an imprint on the headband, a sweaty shadow of your toil. That’s the part that fascinates me. Wear a hat every day and you wear a little bit of it away.

The director of Summerhall has a collection of hats on the wall, and i’m currently shooting those. Even with no idea who they belong to, you still get some sense of the identity of the person, of their history. I also like the fact that the hole in the hat—that “o”—represents your head. the logical next step would be to photograph the positives to that negative, presumably a series of bald heads.

Step in O Street! After an invitation from Scottish Government and an initial planning phase with JM Architects, we went on to create a completely new, easy to understand, mapping convention and report layout to standardise the SDA’s work. Less design grid, more grid reference!

We developed a concept based on the familiar and much loved cassette format. A concertina booklet charting trends over the last 10 years was placed in a plastic cassette case and sent out to last.fm’s most dedicated followers.

The initiative was hugely successful and no doubt prompted many people to dig out those cherished compilation tapes from their youth. Although Neil-O has been banned from playing his early 80’s boyband mix tape in the studio.
